Meet the Representatives

As a future pharmacist, I have interests in critical care and emergency medicine. Both of these areas of medicine present vulnerable patients that require a diverse group of health care professionals. Many times patients that are admitted to the ICU can experience delirium and trauma. I believe with a strong interprofessional team, we can reduce harm to these patients and further improve their quality of life after discharge. IHSO is a great opportunity for us as students to increase communication and relationships with different health care disciplines to better understand each other and provide the best care we can for our patients.

Hi, my name is Elona Iljazi, and I am currently a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. I attended the University of Houston Clear Lake for my undergraduate studies and received my Bachelor of Science in Biology. My future goal as a pharmacist is to work in a retail setting to be one of the most accessible health care professionals in my community and provide services to combat health disparities that my patients may be experiencing. Outside of working as pharmacist, I want to dedicate my time to helping clinics that offer free or reduced services to low-income and underserved communities. That being said, interprofessional practice is very important to me as it promotes patient-centered care, improvement in communication among health care professionals, prevents medication errors and most importantly, it strives for better patient health outcomes.

Hello I'm Carleigh! I'm a second year pharmacy student at the University of Michigan. I'm passionate about inter-professionalism in the health care setting and believe it is our responsibility to collaborate in order to provide the safest and most effective care to patients. IHSO has been a great opportunity to build inter-professional relationships early on in our careers.

Hi, my name is Rachelle Wendt and I'm a second year pharmacy student. My future goals as of right now are to become a clinical pharmacist and specialize in a field, but I'm currently unsure of which specialization. IPE is extremely important in healthcare, especially when dealing with a patient, by the way we communicate with each other, and decide on a patient's best treatment option. IHSO is a great way to build connections with future coworkers and see how a group of different careers can come together to make a difference.
