Inter-Professional Health Student Organization
Meet the Representatives
Hello everyone! My name is Vanessa Mitchell and I am a third year student at the UM School of Dentistry! I joined IHSO last year and served as the Dental School Representative and this year I will be serving at the organization's treasurer. My goal is to specialize in orthodontics so I can help people with oral function and confidence. IHSO will help me in my career journey by providing opportunities to interact with a variety of different professions. It is critical that different health care professionals work together in order to provide the best outcome for their patients.

My name is Taylor Murrell, and I am a second year dental student. I am looking forward to serving as a representative for my school to promote inter-professional collaboration. I was involved in a similar organization during undergrad, and I have always found such value in working with students from different backgrounds and disciplines. Although I have not yet decided what my plans are after graduation, I know that my IPE training will allow me to serve my patients well regardless of where I end up practicing.

My name is Tristan Clark and I am a current 3rd year student at the School of Dentistry. Before starting my dental school dentistry I practiced as a registered dental hygienist for 2 years. During this time I was able to see how important both inter and intra-professional collaboration was. Once completing dental school I plan to either work as a general dentist at a Federally Qualified Health Center or possibly continue my education to become an orthodontist. Inter-professional collaboration is very important in the dental field because we are not only just treating the patients mouth but the entire body. The mouth is really the gateway into the human body can tell us about many other systemic conditions affecting a patient.
