Dalton Bender

My name is Dalton Bender and I am a 3rd year DNP-FNP student. I am pursuing my certified nurse educator certificate, as well. I currently work full-time at MSSU at Michigan Medicine with experience in med/surg and ICU. Before that, I worked as a medical technologist with my first bachelor's degree. I am one of the graduate nursing directors at the U of M Student-Run Free Clinic and have a passion for rural/underserved healthcare. Most of my free time is spent with my dog, watching TV, and during the summer, I play volleyball!

Ava Jenkins

My name is Ava Jenkins and I am a third year student in the Undergraduate Nursing Program at the University of Michigan. I am passionate about understanding and implementing best practices to provide equitable, exemplary patient care to the public. My future career goals include gaining experience through travel nursing to experience the culture of health present across a variety of communities in the United States. Furthermore, I'd like to take that experience and use it to get involved and influence health policy. I believe inter-professional collaboration is vital to changing the landscape of health and plan to incorporate communication with other professions to best approach systemic healthcare change.

Catalina Videla

My name is Catalina Videla. I am a sophomore in the School of Nursing and originally from New Jersey. I am working towards graduating with my BSN in order to work as a Registered Nurse. In the future, I would love to become a Nurse Practitioner, possibly working with children as a Pediatric NP. I firmly believe in the importance of IPE, since as healthcare professionals we have the power to greatly influence patient experiences. Collaboration among the various fields of healthcare is essential to reach a maximal level of patient-centered care, and education on this topic must start at the undergraduate level. Working together, our impact on the patients, and healthcare system as a whole will extend much further.

Hi! My name is Emily Zhao and I'm an undergrad student in the School of Nursing! After taking my first IPE course my freshman year, I was exposed to the various flaws in our healthcare system not only in Michigan but in the United States as a whole. After obtaining my BSN, I hope to pursue my Master's degree to either become a Nurse Practitioner or work in public health so I can contribute to creating the change our healthcare system needs. I am excited to learn about different healthcare professions through IPE and serve as a school representative in IHSO!
